6 Nations Week 2

The results went our way in week one.
Very very impressed with the English performance, the defensive intensity was as good as I have ever seen it, and although they weren’t given many chances they were very clinical and took points at every opportunity. The sort of performance you expect of a team looking to win a World Cup this year.

We got a touch lucky with the Italians, as the Scots were great for the first hour before a couple of mistakes and the lack of intensity off the bench let them down. But a win is a win and the chance to try and build on that this week against a hurting Irish squad

The French first half performance was the best I have seen from them in years. The 8/9/10 axis worked perfectly and the quality of handling was a touch of the French teams if old. Wales on the other hand may as well have stayed in the changing rooms for the 1st 40. The 2nd half was a different story though, they took every chance to score and with Biggar at 10 they never looked like giving it up.

Weekend Treble

Onto this weekend, the Scots will look to build on last weekends win and the Irish will be hurting from their own performance. In a close encounter I see the Scots winning in a hostile Murryfield. Missing some key players through injury the Irish may struggle to gain victory away from home.

It is well known Wales are resting some key players this weekend, but the whole squad will have taken a lot of heart from the 2nd half last week and they are a team that have forgotten how to lose. Even with a weakened team I fear for the Italians this weekend and can see them getting a bit of a hiding.

Onto Le Crunch, I’m not sure after the 2nd half display in Paris Friday night you can back the French with any confidence. Itoge will be a loss for the English but in Lawes they have a fantastic replacement. At Twickenham I think the English could take France to pieces.

Scotland Win 9/4 – with Paddy Power, otherwise about 2/1
Wales – 21 points Hcap – Evens with Paddy Power, some bookmakers are -20 or 20.5 points.
England –12 points Hcap – Evens with Paddy Power, some bookmakers are -13 points.

Treble 12/1

Good luck all, fingers crossed for another winning weekend
